Rehearsed Improvisational Framework

Rehearsed improvisational framework for a collaboration between a dancer and a percussionist, developed during Dance Base Residencies and previously performed at the Old Hairdresser’s in Glasgow. This collaboration researches dissonance and agonism between live dance and music. Teasing apart the notion of music and dance as complementary and necessarily interactive, Piasecka and Welch’s exploration seeks something closer to confusion, acknowledging the individual drives of two performers working together. Straying from the safety of the path of tyrannical harmony, the intention is purposefully suggestive of the importance of discord. Choosing to experience disharmony as a productive force, the duo both presents and disrupts various moments with the view to encourage reflection on the space that exists between opposites.
